A Gastronomic Sunday

Sundays are no longer just about relaxing and chilling at home. The latest fad is to go to the nearest hotel or restaurant and enjoy a hearty Sunday brunch. The trend has caught up quite swiftly and many restaurants now offer a wide platter of epicurean cuisines to make your Sundays happening and eventful.

Since brunches are meant to be heavier than breakfast, restaurants and hotels serving 'weekend brunch' make sure you have a plenty of options to choose from. The varities range from pancakes, fried eggs, a thali of stuffed paratha, fresh curd to Mexican meal with Burritos and Enchiladas and Chinese like Noodles and Dim Sums.

Delectable Journey
Sunday becomes exciting when you meet family and friends over sumptuous and scrumptious food. The best thing about these brunches is that they provide a variety of dining options and different cuisines with multiple choices. Several restaurants across the country are now serving cuisines including Oriental, Indian, Mediterranean and Continental to name a few. Harem Meeza, located in the surroundings of the Garden of Five Senses, is gaining popularity for Mediterranean cuisine. It serves you delicious dishes against a backdrop of a lush green landscape. Lamb Tajine, Shawarma Pizza, Undhiyu, Baklava are a few must-have items from the elaborate platter. To enjoy French cuisine in the capital, head to Cheri at Qutub Mehrauli and experience Sunday brunch at the alfresco patio, the open-air terrace or be comfortable indoors and choose from more than 50 great dishes that take you on a journey across Europe. Rustic thin-crust Pizza, Risotto, cold food buff et —Bocconcini, Cherry Tomato and Basil, Marinated Kalamata Olive, Smoked Salmon with Papaya and Chilli Salsa are a few dishes to tickle your taste buds.

It's fun to see the delicious food being cooked and prepared in front of you. Most of the restaurants have live cooking stations. Pondichery Cafe at Sofitel Mumbai BKC goes a step further and provides an interactive dining experience to its guests. At the Cafe, you have the opportunity to craft your own unique dining experience with interactive live cooking stations that serve Oriental, Indian, Mediterranean and Continental delicacies. The restaurant offers over 200 dishes, has a mouth-watering pastry and bread counter and a dedicated section to serve Jain cuisine.

How about being welcomed with a glass of champagne upon your arrival? Many restaurants serve unlimited cocktails like Fresh Fruit Vodka Martinis and alcoholic beverages like wine, champagne and beer to keep you in high spirits all morning.

More Than Just Food
The concept of Sunday brunch at restaurants is designed to let the guests spend relaxing and quality moments with their loved ones. The fact has inspired many restaurants to come up with a special menu for kids along with activities to keep them busy. Buffet at MoMo Cafe, Courtyard by Marriott, Gurgaon, offers a kids-friendly menu with a vast selection of appetisers like freshly baked breads, eggs, salads and desserts (Tiramisu, Pannacotta and Cheese), Fresh Fruit Slush, candy floss, donuts, and macaroons.

Similarly, Life Caffe (located in Connaught Place) offers a special menu for your little ones. Called 'All about Children's Brunch' it includes a delicious spread of Mac 'n' Cheese Mini Burgers, French Fries, Pasta, Chicken Nuggets, ice-creams and lots more. The special treat doesn't end here. The restaurant has a special kids' corner for fun activities like chocolate tattoo making, gift making, fun-shaped balloons, et cetera.

To offer more than just food, a lot of joints make sure that you enjoy a good time doing other activities too. So some offer shopping arcades, reading places, angelcard reading options and even exotic spa treatment. "Cocoparra, Forest of the Gods Sunday Family Brunch includes activities like flea market shopping, board games, library, beauty and spa treatments and outdoor games like cricket, badminton and football. It covers the spirit of outdoor matched with an opportunity to indulge in some sport, leisure and entertainment," shares Amar Jog, CEO and Director of SNS Hospitality. What's more, there are live bands and shows to enthral you with entertaining performances. Or you can simply relish your tasty meal with soft melodious music.
